After decades of failing to use the range of honours available to us as a Council under Labour, we are launching a new civic honours system in Nuneaton and Bedworth to acknowledge the many unsung heroes across our Borough.
Having already awarded Freedom of the Borough and Alderman/woman awards to deserving stalwarts of our community, the Council has launched a new Award of Merit. We will recognise those who work hard in our community and deserve to be recognised for their dedication.
Members of the public will be able to nominate those in our community who have made a difference.
Cllr Kris Wilson, Leader of the Council, said:
For the first time ever there will be a proper Civic Honours awards system in Nuneaton and Bedworth that will highlight and recognise the unsung heroes in our community.
Many residents across our Borough have made a difference to their areas and the least we can do as a local council is honour the fantastic work that is being done day in, day out.
Residents will be able to nominate someone who they believe is deserving of an award and these will be considered regularly by a panel of Councillors. This is yet another step towards restoring Civic Pride in our Borough.
