Since taking control of the Council in May 2021, local Conservatives have pushed ahead with a new order that bans the sale of cars from the road side.
This practice, which has caused misery for years for local residents in Nuneaton and Bedworth, will now be banned on A and B roads, and some service roads and junctions with C and D class roads.
The advertisements placed at the road side are detrimental to the street scene and a distraction for motorists. Conservative have long lobbied for changed. Now that we are in control we have finally introduced a Public Space Protection Order which bans this anti-social behaviour.
Cllr Kris Wilson, Leader of the Council, said:
"After years of calling for action, we now have the legal means in place to ban this nuisance activity that many residents have complained about. We will protect genuine businesses, but those who continually plan the system will now have action taken against them. I hope to see an improvement around the roads of Nuneaton and Bedworth, and we will not hesitate to enforce this order."
It is now a criminal offence to breach the new PSPO, and a maximum fine of £1,000 for offenders.
