Following approval of the Conservatives Emergency Budget on 30 June 2021, car parking charges are set to be slashed as part of the effort to help our town centres to recover from the impact of Covid.
From 1 August 2021, the new rate of charges will be as follows:
1 August to 30 November – up to 3 hours for £1
30 November to 31 January 2022 – free all day
1 February to 1 March 2022 – up to 3 hours for £1
Cllr Kris Wilson, Leader of the Council, was delighted to offer the news:
“Following the Covid-19 pandemic, we desperately need to help kickstart our Borough economy and encourage more people to visit our wonderful town centres and markets. Offering better value car parking is one way we can help to do this.
“I hope the revisions will encourage more people to come and visit and use these facilities, and we hope people will be happy with the changes we are making under the new leadership.”
