After receiving funding from the Conservative Government under the Towns Fund Programme to completely refurbish the floor above the old Woolworths Building, King Edward VI College has now moved into a new state of the art education and media suite in the heart of Nuneaton Town Centre.
More than 420 creative arts students from the College will now make use of over 11,000 sq ft of new usable space and study for their A-level or vocational qualifications.
Providing the young of Nuneaton and Bedworth with the skills for their future is a central part of the Conservative programme of Transforming Nuneaton. This will also increase footfall in the town centre and increase the money spent in the local businesses and markets that are the heartbeat of Nuneaton.
Cllr Richard Smith, Cabinet Member for Planning, visited the fabulous new facilities:
It is great to see this building, out of use for so long, now with a new purpose and filled with life. We know our town centres need to change, like others around the country, offering a wider range of activity to bring a more diverse mix of people together to use the space available.
The important thing is that this is one of a handful of changes coming to fruition this year, but they are just the start. Our ambition is to transform Nuneaton town centre to help realise our goal of making this Borough a great place to live, work and visit.
