Leading Conservative Cllr Julian Gutteridge has called out the waste of money caused by the vandalism in Camp Hill, which will take money away from improving other areas of our town.
With the fence surrounding the play area at Stubbs' Pool play area and safety matting both damaged, this needless damage has meant that play equipment has had to be removed as it was no longer safe to use. This has been reported to the Police under crime references 23/41738/22 and 23/41863/22 – Criminal Damage
Cllr Gutteridge, Cabinet Member for Health and Environment, was very upset by the news and said:
Only months after we were forced to pay out thousands of pounds to repair criminal damage to Stockingford and Keresley Recreation Grounds, we once again find ourselves having to pay to repair damage to another play area.
This money could be used elsewhere to fund maintenance or equipment for other play areas or parks, and it is absolutely devastating to have to use it for repairing damage.
In the current climate the Council has to be more mindful than ever on how money is being spent, and acts like this unfortunately affect everyone, ultimately the taxpayer.
We need help to stop these mindless criminals. If anyone has any information at all, please come forward using the crime number above and help us catch the culprits.
